The sale of 2009 pet calendars produced by The Gazette raised $2,310.40 for the Mira Foundation. The calendars were the outcome of the “I love my pet” promotion, in which pet owners submitted photographs of their animals to appear in The Gazette’s ‘I Love my Pet’ feature. The highest rated pets of 2008 appeared in the calendar which was sold in The Gazette lobby.

Golfers, smiles and sunshine were present for a beautiful day at the 13th edition of the Omnium Mira on August 4 at Club de Golf Islesmere.
Despite a difficult year on economic terms, the fundraising efforts met expectations again this year. The amount of $ 401 820 raised through the 13th edition of the Omnium brings to close to $ 5 000 000 the total funds raised over the years!
A big thank you to all you golfers who have generously agreed to participate in this 13th edition of the Omnium Mira. Again, the organizers have surpassed themselves. Many thanks to Roberto Pietrovito, Nadia Lisi and Rafik Ackad, great masters of this success who tirelessly, year after year, make the Omnium Mira an exclusive fundraising event. Your passion inspires us!
A special thank you to Steven Mintz and his family for the continuous support they are giving to the Mira Foundation. Their support enables the Mira Foundation to attain its goal of helping physically handicapped people, and most recently TED children, by giving them specially trained dogs that cater to their handicap.
These days one lucky dog is getting the royal treatment…that is Fairmont Le Château Frontenac’s newly appointed Canine Ambassador! The hotel’s new Dog Ambassador is readily available in the hotel lobby to meet and greet guests, accompany them on walks and simply be around for a bit of petting. The program was developed in partnership with the Mira Foundation, who provides guide dogs to individuals that present a visual, auditory and physical handicap.

Santol was originally bred and trained to be a guide dog by the Mira Foundation. Given his amazing kindness and incredible social skills the Mira Foundation decided to keep him as a promotion dog for their many fundraising activities. In partnership with the Mira Foundation, we have found Santol a new career where he can constantly socialize! In this special partnership Fairmont Le Château Frontenac will work with the Mira Foundation to help raise additional funds.
Santol would love to hear from you! For more informations, visit www.fairmont.com/frontenac or phone at (418) 692-3861. You can also email Santol at lcf.santol@fairmont.com
