The MIRA Foundation appeals to the general population to recruit foster family homes for her puppies. The mission of a foster family is to socialize our puppies to prepare them for guide and service dog training. The foster family takes care of the 9 week old puppy until it reaches about one year old. Thereafter, the puppy will return to the Foundation.
Socializing a puppy means teaching it good behavior at home, as well as exposing it to various environments on a regular basis, mainly urban and social environments, since the guide and service dogs will work in these environments in the future.
Before you apply as a foster family, it is very important to know that the puppy must not be left alone for more than four hours per day during the day.
To become a foster family for a MIRA puppy or for more information, contact Josée or Karine at (450) 795-3725 ext 264 or visit http://mira.ca/en/how-you-can-help/9/be-a-foster-family_57.html
We thank you with all our heart!
