Retirement of Noël Champagne, a pillar of Mira
Involved in research projects, he has always sought to push boundaries to better understand, support, and serve our beneficiaries, while expanding Mira’s expertise across its programs.
A tireless advocate for the rights of our beneficiaries, he never hesitated to fight for recognition of their realities and needs.
Directly involved in creating the program for children with autism spectrum disorder, he helped build a cornerstone of our mission—today representing 50% of our clientele.
As a mentor to many, Noël has recruited numerous professionals who have collaborated with Mira and continue to contribute to the foundation today.
Éric St-Pierre also wrote about him in his book Mira, ma plus belle histoire d’amour:
“Noël Champagne, my now great friend and psychologist, convinced me to undertake the long and audacious process of providing a guide dog to a blind child under fifteen. As one can imagine, we faced quite a bit of teasing at the time: ‘Éric and Noël, off on another crazy idea!’ This experience allowed us to venture further into the amazing world of childhood blindness and guide dogs. It was one of the most beautiful and inspiring experiences of my life, as it opened a previously closed door. Noël and I were the direct instigators of this innovation, which would revolutionize our approach. We dared to look beyond the obvious, creating connections that had never been seen before—with the most wonderful success.”
Happy retirement, Noël. You will always be part of our story.
